Frequently Asked Questions

For some answers to frequently asked questions, see below.

Do I have to have a shotgun licence to shoot on the NCSC complex?

The NCSC has an exemption certificate, which allows those individuals who do not possess a shotgun licence to shoot under supervision. If you do require supervision, this will be charged at £85.00 (Tue-Fri) and £98.00 (Sat-Sun) per hour. This includes use of the clubs equipment and up to 75 cartridges and clays.

Do I have to be a member to shoot at the NCSC?

No, the NCSC runs a members and non-members scheme side by side. If you join the NCSC this entitles you to discounts on practice rounds for more information, please see our prices page.

What days are you open?

We are open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday inclusive 9am until 4:30pm (last rounds).
From the middle of May until the middle of September we are open late every Wednesday until 8pm (last rounds 7.30pm)

Do I have to book to use the facility?

No, but we recommend that everyone who wants to shoot at the NCSC call us on 01483 797666 before they attend. As we sometimes host corporate hospitality groups, tuition, courses and competitions, this can limit what we have available in terms of practice ranges.

When I get to the facility, what do I need to do?

When you reach the NCSC you must sign in at reception and pay for your practice sessions, or meet your instructor. Practice sessions are purchased as tokens from the reception desk. These tokens can then be used on any of our practice ranges.

Can I bring a group of novices along to shoot?

As stated previously, people without their own shotgun certificate and shotgun may only shoot at the NCSC complex under supervision. A group of up to 3 novices can be taken for one to one tuition by our Instructor. Any larger, from 4 to 6 individuals, and the group will be regarded as a corporate hospitality function and the group will be given a fun shoot with adaptions of the formal disciplines. Three instructors will be supplied for a maximum of 18 individuals.

Can I give a gift of shooting?

We provide gift vouchers for clay shooting instruction at a price of £98. This includes one to one tuition with a NCSC instructor and up to 75 cartridges and clays, safety equipment and shotgun. Gift vouchers are valid for 6 months.

What is the minimum age of shooting at the NCSC?

As per the NRA Range regulations the minimum age is 14.

If I shoot sporting clays, what discipline will help my aim?

If you shoot sporting clays the favoured discipline is English Skeet.

Can I combine a group shoot with lunch or a meeting?

Yes we can provide a function room to either host a meeting or run a course. Our in house caterer can provide a selection of menus to suit all tastes and budgets.
